Graffiti Wall Class work
Students will work in groups to produce a graffiti wall with pencils and colored pencils. Three dimensional techniques will be explored to achieve block and bubble lettering effects. The students will study perspective, color, balance, variety and harmony in their work. The history of graffiti will be covered, including references to Cave Paintings and Roman Civilization as well as new technological advances in light graffiti and computer generated graffiti. Socially students will consider the ethics of illegal graffiti, the freedom of expression and graffiti’s use to make political and social statements.
One and Two Point Perspective will be covered, the use of color and line.
A class demonstration of one and two point perspective as well as three variations of block lettering will be done before the entire class.
Mini lessons will be given per student or group as needed to demonstrate again the method of one and two point perspective and creating interesting block letters.
The students worked in groups at their assigned tables, creating independent and themed work.
The final pieces will be arranged in the hallway along the wall outside of the art lab.
